Pop Smoke meets 808Melo
Featured: Pop Smoke, 808Melo
Pop Smoke was nineteen when he started recording in earnest. He found 808Melo — a producer in London making sliding-808 beats for the UK drill scene — and the sound he sent back over those beats was something new. Brooklyn dancing on UK production. The BPM, the 808 slide, the way the kick lands off the one — that's the soundbed sturdy is built on.
By the next summer he'd have Welcome to the Party on the radio and the dance was forming under it. The choreography didn't have a name yet, but the lean and the rock were already there in the block-party clips.
