Crunk choreography wave hits MTV

2005 was peak crunk on MTV. Lil Jon's productions, the Ying Yang Twins, and the Dem Franchize Boyz' Lean wit It, Rock wit It put an Atlanta-built dance vocabulary on every screen in American teenage bedrooms. The lean — the same word that would attach to sturdy fifteen years later — was already doing real work in those routines. Crunk wasn't drill, but the family resemblance is honest: regional Southern sound, regional Southern dance, mainstream rollup. The pattern repeats.
