Jalaiah Harmon credited for Renegade

Jalaiah Harmon, fourteen years old, choreographed the Renegade — the dance that took over TikTok in late 2019 and early 2020. The dance went global before her name did. The New York Times ran the story in February 2020 and the conversation about credit on the platform shifted permanently. Every Black dance creator on TikTok since 2020 has had to negotiate this — the platform's algorithm doesn't carry credit upstream. Calling for it has become part of the work.
